some things y'all should know
1- smiling is easier than frowning fact ... 2-books beat tv ... 3-the streets are a soap meets documentary ... 4-sit down and watch ... 5-taking time is the new checking your watch.
6- www.thesartorialist.blogspot.com is amazing ... its been one of my secrets for a while but now you need to look at this site ... its amazing ... this guy Scott Buchanan has an eye for detail that is normally reserved for a shoemakers elf in the mountains near florence or a milanese tailor with a monocle ... it is a bible for me ... keep up the good work Scott !!
7- Derrick Miller ex of Polo has a new brand (well new to a lot of the UK anyway) BARKER BLACK ... shoes like you wont believe ... a sartoralist himself Derrick has used all the right heritage angles mixed with contemporary awareness style and savvy to provide us with a SPECIAL brand ... In the U.S he is a style god ... he will soon assume this status here without a shadow of a doubt. wwww.barkerblack.com ... check it !!!!!

NEW DATE ... 12TH MARCH !!!!!!!
... will be hosting the first CONVERSATIONS IN HEAVEN night since its BIG BANG inception at the Grifin Shoreditch.
As some of you will know the theme of the evenings entertainment is based around the conversation about music between two dead heroes, visionaries and protagonists of scenes / genres, morbid it aint, celebratory it is folks !!
the next one is changed from 20th feb to wed 12th march !!

and so we are 2008 ...
hello folks
it seems a while and yes i have been both distant and away .. tryint to ease up on the potential RSi and im also sick of the sight of my machine to be honest (sorry apple, love you really). Yes I hear you, it is all well and good to state intent to publish words of sometimes consequence yet many times nonsense and then go moan about the middle man well despite its hypocrisy Im moaning folks as my eyes got bad, my arm started to hurt and my posture resembled that of a 90year old Bolshevik worker ... for a 32 year old male this cant be good can it ?? I mean, slave to the system, the man, and the desk has led me to looking and feeling like the recepient of a sound hiding and not to mention getting repetitive eye sight dysfunctionality (my own diagnosis you may realise!!)... so these, few words go to state the reason for my abscence ... ok ?
now onto the more positive aspects of the rear end of 07 and the first few steps of a new year ... 08 !!
quickly i must interject on my own streams of consciousness (if that is feasible!!) to state that having a tooth extracted on the 23rd december doesnt bode well on the chocolate side of christmas ... childish ... maybe ... but i just wanted to say that !
My festive period was indeed festive, good food was consumed (a little too much based on my new name 'fat steve')fine wines were sniffed, swirled and duly coiffed .. YUM !! wonderful gifts were received (my wife took me to Ralph Lauren and let me shop then paid for it ... wow !! ... i am so lucky ... not one pair of socks either ... a bow tie with cutlasses on it was devoured however !!
also received were books, dvd's and a wonderful camera ... i shall inform of the books on the next post ... thanks to the givers ... i hoped you liked mine too
getting to go home is something i look forward to immensely as the family all reside under one big parental roof and we basically watch, listen and shoot the shit ... therapeutic and honest ... thank the lord that i am able to do this as many sit in a black and white yesteryear of chocolate tv guides and silence. well i tend to get a little drunk and go head to head with my father for the 'BELLIGERENT BASTARD OF THE YEAR' award but as aforementioned its therapeutic and let it be said FUN !!we tatse whiskys and wines and go hell for leather on opinion rites !! as in ... does anyone have the right to an opinion after whisky and wine ... ?? maybe not but rest assured you certaily earn the right to a crippling headache the following morning ... thank god there are dogs to walk ...
my mum ... well what can i say ... this past year she has been to hell and back and maybe even returned once more just for a final FUCK YOU ... 2007 my mum got cancer ... 2007 my heart broke ... 2007 gave rise to a heroine of such great proportion that words have not yet been created to describe strength, bravery and positivity that have exuded from her ... i cant imagine what it must be like to lose part of the physicality that allegedly defines you a woman ...but i can say that i witnessed a woman become emancipated and stronger than a biblical field of oxen ... to be told that you have acquired something that is inside you and wants to take you from the earth and your life ... well i cant pretend to imagine to know what that must feel like ... however to see someone that you love rise from a shock like that, even greater in strength and will to live is truly awe inspiring ... of course i dont recommend it but i do put it up there with the greates comebacks ever ... and the best part is i now have a new friend, a new mother and a new hero ... heres to 08 'Scally Lama' xx ps - thanks to the hospital staff who look after her and i raise a glass (of water - detox !!) to dad, gran and Katharine x
so onto 08 ... what lies in the abyss of the following 362 days ? who knows ... check the next post for some things that i am aiming to achieve and what i will be throwing myself into ... but number 1 is most definitely a mission to discover more of others and myself ... the rest will follow ...
